At the Open Gym, we’re all about creating a comfortable, non-intimidating workout environment, and we understand that our personal trainers are a big part of that.
That’s why we want to give you the chance to meet our team before you even step through our doors. Check out our bios below, then stop by and meet us in the flesh at no charge — all of our initial personal training sessions are FREE!
Bill's the kind of guy who believes water exists so that you can race in it, and that the only problem with ballet is that you can't tell who's winning. That said, the part of athletic endeavor that Bill cares about most, whether he's jumping off a boat near Alcatraz before dawn or running up Pike's Peak, isn't actually the score or the finishing time or the rank. It's the instant friendship that happens when shivering, over-excited, weary and exultant amateur athletes have all worked their hardest to get through it: to reach the shore, to touch the wall, to cross the line, to do whatever it was they set out to do.
Bill believes in the power of setting goals and working toward them through steady and intelligent training. The race - whatever it is, and however it turns out - is the reward. He hopes everyone will have this experience of accomplishment and have nice people to share it with; that's why he and Nora started The Open Gym.
Bill is married to Nora Kelly, who claims that what she said was, "Let's join a gym," not own a gym...oh, well. She loves being pushed hard by her personal trainer and by class instructors, believing that 'grueling' is great, as long as there are jokes.
She values highly the camaraderie that characterizes the Open Gym but also takes advantage of the ballet barre, yoga mats and stability balls for quieter, more contemplative sessions. She says that The Open Gym has the best members, trainers, teachers and staff anywhere, and that they make it a great place to be.
